Bishop Dr. Henry Z. Mulandi's profile

On Tuesday, the 4^th of May, 1948 baby Henry Zakayo was born to Timothy and Tabitha K. Mulandi. His early childhood was marked by severe drought that struck his Ukambani homeland.

Education
Henry had his primary education in Mukaa Primary School between 1963 and 1965 before heading on to Lokori Primary School between 1965 and 1967 and finally returning to Mukaa Primary School in 1968 to 1969.

He proceeded to undertake tertiary training in Thika Technical School between 1970 and 1973 and later at Kagumo Teachers Training College from 1974 to 1976. He went on to higher education in Rosedale Bible College in Ohio, U.S.A. Between 1980 and 1981. He later on pursued undergraduate studies at Daystar University in Nairobi, Kenya between 1988 and 1993.

Ministerial Credentials

Bishop Henry Mulandi preached as a freelance evangelist in 1971 to 1979. He was ordained into the ministry in 1975 and w as consecrated as a Bishop of ACCEA Southern Diocese in 1986. In 1992, he was consecrated and enthroned as the presiding Bishop of ACCEA. Bishop Mulandi finished his term in 2002 and stepped down for another presiding Bishop. He left the church with 9 Bishops, more than 300 churches and more than 50 ministers.

Pioneer Work

In 1976, Bishop Henry Mulandi founded Regions Beyond Ministry (RBM) and its institutions. In 1982, he began RBM School of Ministry and today it has become a university. In 1983 he put up RBM Retreat Centre in Ngoliba on a five acre land. He also put up a large library (RBM Library) in Thika town with many titles.

In 1980 he founded Christian Church International which has over 300 churches, and its Institutions, which include the following:-
- Vocational Training Centre in 1987 (VTC)
- Christian Bible Institute in 1993 (CBI)
-International School of Missions 1997 (ISOM)
- Leadership Training Institute (LTI)
- Centre for Christian Discipleship(CCD)
- Dayspring Academy in Juja
- Makueni Vocational Training Centre
Bishop Mulandi has helped to plant churches in Kenya, Uganda, D.R. Congo, Sudan, Ethiopia and Mozambique.

In 1991 Bishop Mulandi founded ACMI (African Christian Mission International) and its mission bases. The Kakuma Base in Northern Kenya was built and dedicated to the ministry of refugees from Sudan and other countries. He saw to the building of a primary school in Turkana Village (Lochereng) near Kakuma and also to the beginning of a Feeding Program for children in Kakuma.

Family

He is married to Betty Mulandi, and they have three children. Kathyrene is in the USA, Moses works with Trinity Tours and Paul, who works with ACMI, is married to Irene Kawira.

Bishop Mulandi Honorary Doctorate Ceremony

Recently, we celebrated with Bishop Mulandi as he was honored for his ministry work. Dr. Clyde Rivers, from the United College Graduate and Seminary, California, awarded Bishop Henry Mulandi with the Doctor of Divinity degree for the expanse of his work. It was an auspicious occasion attended by many guests among them pastors, reverends, Bishops and even our constituency’s member of parliament, George Thuo.

Bishop Mulandi, together with the Dr. Clyde’s team entered the global cathedral in a beautiful procession, lead by Rev. Dr. Solomon Kyengo, who went on to sing a duet with his wife, “You are the man,” dedicated to Bishop Mulandi.

Rev. Timothy Gakunju filled the hall with humorous laughter as he led through the whole occasion. Faith and Gloria, representing the Sunday school children had a great poem on Bishop’s missionary journey, and Evelyn Nyambura dedicated a song to Bishop, Hero. Psalm Wachira’s poem was absolutely inspirational, and the skit by the Eagles Drama Team entertained as well as challenged the audience to support missionaries.

When Dr. Clyde Rivers rose up to speak, the hall was all ears, and his speech was highly celebrated. He said that what Bishop Mulandi had accomplished could not be accomplished debt free by many. He also went on to point out that all brains are the same, but are differentiated only by the content of information that is in them. He encouraged the congregation that they could achieve what Bishop Mulandi had achieved.

He spoke highly of Bishop Mulandi, as did many others, complimenting his humility, zeal, passion for and faith in God. He said Bishop Mulandi is a visionary, he bears the vision, and the provision follows him because he trusts in God. “He saw a church where others saw a jungle,” Dr. Clyde says. He commented that the work of Bishop Mulandi was as a result of faith not of money. “Faith draws to you what you need,” he added. He asked the Bishop to write many books on his life.

FAMILY SPEAKS

Paul Muchiri, Bishop’s third and last born; spoke of him as a great dad, the dad of their dreams. He talked about the changes he noticed in his father and in their family depending on what responsibilities his dad had. When he handed over senior pastorship, their family relations improved. Paul talked of the discipline that his dad instilled in them by making them work in the farm for entire days during school holidays. He says this has made him learn how to keep at one job until it is done.

FRIENDS SPEAK

Rev. Simon Kabocho told of his experience of how he met Bishop Mulandi, and how it is to serve with him now. Rev. Kabocho went on to say that although Bishop is the founder of the CCI churches, he serves as a pastor and does not boss around.

Mrs. Susan Mbugua also narrated how it has been knowing Bishop as a friend. She said that Bishop has been a friend to families, and gave illustrations from her own life, such as how he was there for their family when her sister had a brain tumor.

It was indeed a very beautiful occasion, and we pray God's blessings and favor upon Bishop Dr. Mulandi.

ACMI BACKGROUND

CCI, (Christian Church International), (formerly ACCEA-African Christian Church of East Africa) was registered with the Kenyan Government in 1964. ACMI (formerly ACM-African Christian Missions) was founded by Bishop Henry Z. Mulandi in 1992 when he saw the need of reaching out in High schools, Colleges and Universities with the gospel of Christ, preaching in open-air meetings (crusades) all over the country and planting churches in different villages in collaboration with the local churches.

He also saw the need of reaching out to the refugees by ministering to their spiritual, emotional and physical needs through provision of God's word, food and clothing.Over the years, the Lord has expanded our boundaries within Kenya, Africa and beyond. Through the participation of sponsors, friends and partners of this ministry as well as volunteers and a diligent work-force, ACMI has positively impacted countless lives. We have bases in war-torn parts of Congo and Sudan.
